Savory Steak and Garlic Mashed Potatoes
Ingredients
- 2 steaks (your choice of cut)
- 4 large potatoes
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Olive oil
- Optional: fresh herbs (like rosemary or thyme) for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the Potatoes: Peel the potatoes and cut them into quarters. Place them in a large pot of cold, salted water.
- Bring the pot to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce to a simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are fork-tender.
- Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the butter, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning as needed.
Cook the Steak:
- Season the Steak: Pat the steaks dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
- Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Once the oil is hot, add the steaks to the pan. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until your desired doneness is reached.
- Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
Serve:
- Plate the garlic mashed potatoes and top with sliced steak.
- Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
- Enjoy your savory steak and garlic mashed potatoes!
