Savory Steak and Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients

  • 2 steaks (your choice of cut)
  • 4 large potatoes
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Olive oil
  • Optional: fresh herbs (like rosemary or thyme) for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Potatoes: Peel the potatoes and cut them into quarters. Place them in a large pot of cold, salted water.
  2. Bring the pot to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce to a simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are fork-tender.
  3. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the butter, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning as needed.

Cook the Steak:

  1. Season the Steak: Pat the steaks dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Once the oil is hot, add the steaks to the pan. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until your desired doneness is reached.
  4. Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Serve:

  1. Plate the garlic mashed potatoes and top with sliced steak.
  2. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
  3. Enjoy your savory steak and garlic mashed potatoes!
